The Role: Purchasing, Production & Quality Administrator

Position Summary:
The Purchase/Production Planner/Quality Administrator is a key role within our operations team, combining responsibilities in purchasing, production planning, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will play a critical part in ensuring that our products are produced efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing supplier relationships, optimising production schedules, and supporting our commitment to British craftsmanship and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing/Buying:
- Source, negotiate, and procure materials, components, and services critical to the manufacturing of emergency lighting products.
- Develop and maintain relationships with British and Overseas suppliers and vendors to support our “Made in Britain” mission.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, lead times, and re-order points to ensure seamless production and supply continuity.
- Evaluate supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with our quality standards.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and quality expectations.
Production Planning:
- Develop and manage production schedules based on customer demand, sales forecasts, and inventory needs.
- Collaborate with the production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure the timely manufacturing and delivery of our product.
- Monitor work orders and adjust as needed to account for shifts in demand or supply chain constraints.
- Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks and suggest process improvements.
Quality Administration:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QMS) in line with industry standards.
- Assist in conducting quality audits, inspections, and product testing to ensure adherence to our strict standards for reliability and performance.
- Document and track non-conformance reports (NCRs) and help drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain detailed records of quality metrics, inspection results, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or quality assurance roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and production planning.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
