Kitchen Cook required at Greenway House, Lower Penn, Wolverhampton, WV4 4TW.
Hours: 13.5 hours over Friday, Saturday & Sunday (4.5 hours per day)
plus Holiday & Sickness Cover as required
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Bank Cook to join our team in a part time weekend position! You will play a vital role with the preparation, cooking, and serving of three course lunches, light meals, sandwiches, and hot snacks to our 12 residents, following our Care Home’s Health & Safety policies. This role is to provide cover during holiday and sickness absences of our main cook.
Responsibilities:
– Prepare delicious and nutritious meals for residents, catering to their dietary requirements and preferences
– Ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols during food preparation, cooking, and serving
– Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen areas at all times
– Report any maintenance issues or food safety hazards promptly to the appropriate personnel
– Assist with stock control and ordering supplies when necessary
– Monitor portion sizes while preparing meals and snacks and maintaining accurate records of inventory and expenses
– Participate in staff meetings as required
– Adhere to the Care Home’s policies and procedures and all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations consistently
– Step in during staff shortages, ensuring seamless kitchen operations
Requirements:
– Applicants should have level 2 or equivalent food hygiene course plus food allergen awareness course (training can be provided if necessary)
– Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a similar care setting
– Knowledge of various cooking methods and techniques
– Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special diets
– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
– Ability to work well within a team and adapt to changing situations
– Flexibility to cover shifts during holidays and sick leave
